One of the ways we keep our meals ecological is by working with suppliers who are just as passionate about sustainability as we are. We choose ecological and energy-efficient alternatives for meal production and only work with suppliers who share this philosophy. This way, we can ensure that our meals are sustainably produced and served from harvest to plate.
A great example is our sister company and supplier, Deliva. In addition to more than 1000 solar panels, they have also installed their own water purification system. This not only ensures a greener future, but also a more efficient production. A win for Deliva, Umami, and the planet!
Worldly dishes from Belgian soil
Our dishes are not only sustainably sourced, but also flavorful and varied. We offer an extensive range of dishes at different sites, from soups to sandwiches to Belgian classics and worldly dishes. How do we manage this? By mainly using fresh, local ingredients from nearby suppliers. Because quality ingredients don't have to be far away.
We only prepare what we serve
Fighting food waste is also on the menu here. We don't have unnecessarily large pots on our stove, but the right amounts that meet the needs of the day. Our staff at each location can schedule meals and menus themselves on a weekly or monthly basis, which helps prevent waste and allows unopened packages to be used later in the monthly menu. In short, the Umami team only prepares what will actually be served. Customers serve themselves and determine their own portion size, which also helps to prevent food waste.
