Meet the team: Umami Atlas Copco

How long have you both worked at Umami?
Claudia: “Since May 2015.”
Marina: “I can’t remember the exact date, but about seven years as well.”

Can each person briefly explain their tasks within the team?
Marina: “My day starts with refilling the coffee machine and drinks dispenser in the warehouse. Claudia starts making the sandwiches at 10 o’clock, and I help her. I also serve at the counter and work on the checkout.”
Claudia: “That’s right, I make the sandwiches. But there are other tasks as well, such as clearing up and doing the dishes. We do everything together, really.”

Why did you choose a job in catering?
Claudia: “Actually, it was a pure coincidence. After the cleaning company I worked for went bankrupt, I applied for a job here. I am really glad I got this chance, because it’s not easy to find a job when you’re a little older.”
Marina: “It was pure chance for me too. I was working at an industrial bakery, but it also went bankrupt. I then applied for a production operator job at Deliva, and they asked me if I fancied working at Umami. I am really happy I said ‘yes’ at the time!”

What is it like to do the catering at Atlas Copco?
Both: “Really nice! We feel right at home here. Everyone is very friendly and makes us feel we are part of the company like everyone else.”

How important is teamwork in your department?
Marina: “Important. We have only been working together since February, but we are a good team already. Our characters are a good match: quiet, but we also like to play jokes on each other from time to time.”

Is there room for improvement as a team?
Claudia: “No, we are really happy with each other. I wonder if I will ever find a colleague like Marina, because she’s retiring in May next year.”

Is Umami a good employer? What makes working here so great?
Claudia: “Certainly. It’s also just a nice job with lots of variety, freedom, and good hours. I would like to be a bit more connected to Deliva. When I have to order something, it’s nice to know some people.”

Do you get together for activities outside of work sometimes? If yes, what do you do?
Marina: “Definitely, for example, we celebrated the start of our leave together recently. Twice, actually: both when Claudia’s leave started and mine.”
