Approximately 220 permanent team members and 100 mobile employees are ready to provide you with a service that is at least as appetizing as the food on your plate.

The employees make the company, not the other way around. Umami has great respect for its employees and provides strong HR guidance: from a warm welcome on the first working day to appreciating their experience. UNITED AGAINST FOOD WASTE

Umami not only values its employees but also the environment. That's why all employees receive the necessary support and training to minimize food waste. Orders are thoughtfully placed after checking the stock, taking into account shelf life, delivery dates, and the intended quantity. This way, we prevent unnecessary food waste while ensuring food safety. Moreover, by using vacuum packaging, we extend the shelf life of products without compromising on variety, offering a maximum selection with minimal waste.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Our selection of fruits and vegetables is mainly seasonal, and whenever possible, we choose sustainably caught fish and prioritize plant-based food. We also offer products sourced from agriculture that uses as few pesticides and fertilizers as possible. Additionally, some items in our standard range are available in an organic variant, such as pasta and rice.

And that's not all, because Umami also organizes sustainable themed events such as 'The Organic Week', '40 Days Without Meat', and of course, Sustainable Thursday. During these events, only dishes with a low ecological footprint are served. Additionally, by utilizing special cooking techniques, we save a significant amount of energy, and we use environmentally friendly products for kitchen maintenance. In this way, Umami contributes to a more beautiful and fairer world.


CUSTOMIZED CATERING

IN HEALTHCARE

Umami takes care of care. We understand the comfort and solace that a good meal can provide during difficult times. Making that meal as healthy and delightful as possible is our concern.
 

Depending on the care institution (hospitals, psychiatric facilities, nursing homes...), the food is served in buffet style or individually on a tray through a food trolley. The dishes are served per person or scooped by the caterer or nursing staff themselves.

Each guest has a separate file with a very specific dietary program based on their personal needs and preferences. From classic preparations to special diets and even blended food: Umami takes into account every guest. From breakfast to lunch, snacks, and dinner. Furthermore, the menu composition is supported by a dietitian, ensuring that guests are always served tasty, varied, and healthy dishes.

IN EDUCATION

Because a 3-year-old naturally doesn't have the same taste as a 24-year-old, the food formula is specifically adapted to the school or institution. This way, we achieve a perfect ten in taste for every student!

 

Umami always finds a successful formula in education as well. There are typical cafeterias for preschool and primary school students, primary school students can choose from a buffet, and university students enjoy delicious meals in cozy seating areas and lounges. What all formulas have in common: an affordable price, great flexibility with peak and off-peak moments during exams and holidays, and of course, fantastic food.

Healthy eating is important for everyone, but particularly for students. That's why Umami offers healthy brain food in education. Classic daily specials, sandwiches, and take-away corners for older students: all dishes provide healthy fuel for the brain, helping all students stay fully focused in class.

WORKPLACE CATERING

Whether you have a large or small company and employ office workers or laborers (or both!), during lunch break, your employees deserve more than a simple sandwich. They deserve to take a moment away from work and enjoy a delicious meal, so they can return to work full of energy. Because healthy and happy employees make a healthy company!

 

No two companies are the same, and therefore, the catering formula should be tailored accordingly. For example, laborers typically have a fixed lunch break and quick service is crucial, while office workers have a more spread-out lunch break. A self-service buffet or shop is suitable for both groups, while a restaurant with table service can be an enjoyable extra for office workers.

To please both vegetarian Valerie and gluten-free Gavin, Umami offers a wide range of healthy and varied food options. Balanced and nutritious meals are provided, with the calorie content indicated, as Denise wants to shed her holiday weight. For Kevin who always brings his own sandwiches, there are delicious side dishes available, such as a fruit salad, a bowl of soup, or a tasty dessert. And let's not forget themed days with international dishes, allowing every employee to feel like they're on vacation. The exact menu items will be decided together, ensuring everyone's preferences are taken into account.
